 Marc Rizzo, known for his work with SOULFLY, is one of the new breed of young guitarists in contemporary bands who have stepped out with solo projects that reveal a phenomenal command of the guitar. His solo CD "Colossal Myopia" reveals Marc to be a master musician with deep musical roots in metal, classical and flamenco guitar. Marc is a breath of fresh air to the instrumental rock genre.
Marc is one of the founding members of Latin metal band Ill Nino. He joined Soulfly in September 2003 after and played on all of 'Prophecy' and 'Dark Ages' and even aided in the writing process of many new songs. He has helped to influence Max Cavalera the founder of Soulfly to bring back a very heavy, brutal metal vibe to Soulfly.

Marc is a highly talented axeman and a much needed breath of fresh air to the instrumental rock genre. His style is a mixture of all the music that he listens to. It's a combination of metal nuevo, flamenco and jazz. "i don't really listen to one type of music and I think my playing and solo projects reflect that."
He combines heavy riffing with flamenco buleria rhythms and at times he is pure shred!
Marc Rizzo is endorsed by Peavey Guitars and Yamaha Acoustics. He is also a solo recording artist with Shrapnel Records. Marc and his brother Luke Rizzo have their own record label the indie Phlamencore Records was established in 2004. |
